2015 November PAD Chapbook Challenge: Day 24
“Write a love poem. Write an anti-love poem. Your choice.”
I have to admit that this prompt stopped me in my tracks. Love, for a moment, didn’t bring a single thought to mind or feeling to heart. So, for days I refused. I thought about the prompt and was angry at being thwarted in my poetry mission, but still refused. Finally, tonight I began “dear love” and words flowed out of me. As you know, they are unedited, and I don’t dare critique them myself, but I learned something about getting started even when you’re uninspired or hurt. A single step makes a lot of difference.
